Detroit Lions Betting Odds

The 2020 season was a mess for the Detroit Lions with a midseason coaching change despite technically improving from 2019. The Lions had the worst defense in the NFL last year by allowing 32.4 points and nearly 420 yards per game. The hope is Detroit will rebuild under new coach Dan Campbell and return to playoff contention.

There has been a major overhaul of the roster since Campbell took over, notably shipping Matthew Stafford to Los Angeles for Jared Goff and two first-round picks. However, the Lions have just two players with at least 25 catches returning -- running back D’Andre Swift and tight end T.J. Hockenson.

Team Futures

The Lions are the clear underdogs in the NFC North with division odds of +2100 to top the division. Detroit did make some splashy moves on offense, but the defense ranked last in the league last year and has few improvements.

Individual Futures

The Lions’ have a lack of representation in the individual awards odds. Detroit doesn't have a seriously hyped for Defensive Player of the Year, and the Lions made the smart play by investing in the offensive line in the first round of the draft. Therefore, the Lions also don’t have a front-runner player in either of the rookie of the year award categories this season.

If you want to bet on a Lions player to win any hardware, it may need to be in the MVP race, where Detroit has a pair longshot contenders. Jared Goff was the prized pickup this offseason for the Lions, but the quarterback does not nearly have the same weapons he had with the Rams. Goff is listed at +12000 MVP odds, much better than running back D’Andre Swift at +18000.
