New Orleans Saints Betting Odds

In Drew Brees’ final season, the New Orleans Saints again fell short of their second Super Bowl championship. Now 2021 is a dawn of a new era for coach Sean Payton and the Saints with a new quarterback leading the offense. Taysom Hill and Jameis Winston will battle it out for the job, while star WR Michael Thomas returns fully healthy. The defense will miss edge rusher Trey Hendrickson, but still has plenty of talent to be a strong unit again.

This is the first season in a long time that the Saints are not among the favorites to hoist the Lombardi Trophy at the end of the season. New Orleans begins the preseason with Super Bowl odds of +3000 as it enters this new era of the offense, making the Saints the co-sixth choice in the NFC with Dallas.

The Saints have division odds of +320 to win the NFC South after topping the division last year despite the injuries. Perhaps more intriguing is the +110 odds on New Orleans even making the playoffs this year, a sign of the lack of faith in Jameis Winston to keep the offense humming against a tough schedule.

Jameis Winston enters 2021 with the Saints' best MVP odds at +6000, but that relies on the quarterback to repeat his 5,000-yard season from 2019 with far fewer than the 30 interceptions he threw that season. Winston has the arm strength and talent to excel in the Saints offense, but his questionable decision making is what could hold him back.

The Saints have two legitimate chances at winning Comeback Player of the Year with Winston and wide receiver Michael Thomas. Winston is a dark horse contender at +1700 with the talent and scheme to make him a star in this league.
