You don't typically think of non-starters as top-15 draft picks in the NFL Draft, but that's the case for Iowa edge rusher Lukas Van Ness, who was not credited with a start in college.
According to the NFL Draft betting odds at FanDuel Sportsbook, Van Ness still had reasonable +270 odds to be a top-10 pick in the draft.
He did slip out of the top 10 -- but not by much.
The Green Bay Packers selected him 13th overall.

Just a redshirt sophomore, Van Ness found his way to a top-15 draft pick due to dominating in his time on the field at Iowa.
He churned out 9 sacks on 478 snaps, via PFF, and his 4.58-second 40-yard dash puts him in the 91st percentile among edge prospects, via MockDraftable.

The Packers were just 28th against the rush but 13th against the pass in 2022 by numberFire's expected points model, which accounts for opponents faced.
Van Ness should be able to chip in from day one while the team's stud defender Rashan Gary recovers from ACL surgery.

Rebuilding after the Aaron Rodgers era, the Packers are still bettable at +4000 to win the Super Bowl in 2023, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
Their win total is set at 7.5 with +102 odds on the over, and their playoff odds are +160.
