The Sixers are the quintessential 2nd-place team of our generation. Trusting the process usually gets Philly into the Eastern Conference semis, sometimes the ECF, before they get their hearts ripped out by a slightly better team.

The Sixers are (+2000) to win the NBA Finals in 2021-22—the 8th-shortest odds in the NBA but only the 3rd-shortest in the East.

Listening to the odds tells us that even if Philly manages to win the Eastern Conference title, they will face an uphill battle against any top Western team in the Finals.

Sixers big man Joel Embiid is the most talented 7-footer in the Eastern Conference, possibly the entire NBA. The ease at which Embiid can shoot and move around the court at such a height boggles the mind and makes it impossible for opposing coaches to defend.
